Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC 2018 FRATELLI GIACOSA

Description
The prince of the Langhe, the wine that introduces the great appellations and that knows how to give surprises and emotions even in its youth. Nebbiolo d'Alba DOC is a red wine that is as fresh and reactive as it is deep and complex. It is vinified in horizontal fermentation tanks and aged for about a year in oak barrels of varying capacity. A classic Nebbiolo. The wine shows intense garnet red. On the nose reveals characteristic fruity and spicy hints. A hint of leather opens to a youthful, soft, enveloping taste, well outlined by sweet and fine tannins. It goes very well with pasta, meat based dishes and seasoned cheeses.
The wine is aged for 12 months in tonneaux and 50 hl barrels. It is then aged in bottle for a further 6 months before being sold.

Family history
The long family tradition of Giacosa Fratelli has its origins in antiquity. There were actually four brothers: Leo, Giovanni Battista, Joseph and Giuseppe Costantino. In the late 1800s they moved from Costigliole d'Asti to Neive, in the heart of the Langhe, and worked as sharecroppers. In the summer of 1895 there was a cellar for sale only Borgonuovo di Neive, but it cost too much and has been able to do. But one night he dreamed the numbers that the next day he played the lottery: he won, and finally bought the much dreamed cellar. After Joseph came his son. It was he who realized Joseph's dream and began to produce wine himself. After forty years of work and two world wars, came the children Leo Valerio and Renzo and the work in the vineyard and in the cellar becomes more and more refined. Since bulk wine in the Carboy began making wine in the bottle. They also come in the Mauritian company, son of Valerio and Paolo, son of Renzo, that increase the vineyards and are still leading the family business.

Philosophy

The company produces the typical wines of the Langhe, in its own vineyards, located in the municipality of Neive and its surroundings. The company has been awarded as one of the most interesting wineries in the province of Cuneo. The wines prove to be representative of the top production of the Piedmont region. From the cultivation of the grapes for wine production, all in the family.
